According to a recent study performed by Intuit, an increasingly large number of entrepreneurs are using apps to grow their businesses. In fact, the study showed that at least 64 percent of businesses now use cloud accounting systems (such as QuickBooks) and accompanying web-based apps. These business owners are also saying that they see how the apps are helping their bottom line by allowing them more time to spend growing their business.
How Apps Are Being Used Around The Globe
Intuit’s 2016 Small Business Report is the first study of its kind, and includes interviews and information from 2,000 owners and managers of small businesses from the U.S., Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom. The study asked business owners questions about what they are seeing and experiencing when using cloud based accounting and accompanying apps.
A big find from the study is that although many tech-savvy entrepreneurs are taking the jump to using apps, there are some barriers to greater success. According to the study, as many as 2 out of every 5 entrepreneurs feel there are too many apps available. Over 40 perfect say they aren’t sure which apps will really be helpful to their business. Another 39 percent of entrepreneurs said they think the cost of integrating and training on the apps is too high.
The study showed that entrepreneurs are using apps to grow their business by eliminating unnecessary administrative tasks. This frees up more time for the entire staff to focus on bringing in new business and maintaining positive client relationships. It also reported that of the small businesses that are using apps, at least 82 percent of them use at least one to six web-based apps.
Endless Opportunities For App Developers
The bottom line is that the growing marketplace for apps provides a potentially lucrative opportunity for app developers. Intuit has made a commitment to continue to partner with 3rd party developers to provide their QuickBooks users with better tools to streamline their business processes. To date, QuickBooks gives their 1.5 million users access to over 1,200 apps. Intuit also pays for a yearly security check to be completed for all the apps it integrates into its system. This means that entrepreneurs who are using apps to grow their business have nearly unlimited potential to find the right app to help streamline their business processes. They can also be assured that the apps they have access to are secure and of world-class quality.
